What is it?

100 Books Before Graduation is a reading challenge for teens to read 100 books before they graduate from high school. Studies have shown reading for enjoyment has a positive impact both academically and socially.

  • Can result in higher test scores
  • Improves reading achievements (strong vocabulary, greater use of grammatical structure, and improved writing style)
  • Increase social skills
  • Reduces stress
  • Helps cure boredom

Who Can Participate?

All participants must have a valid Bay-Shore Brightwaters Library Card and must currently be in grades 6-12.

How Does it Work?

  • Register here.
  • Record the books you read along the way. We will keep track of the books for you.
  • You will receive a certificate and prizes for every 20-book milestone. Bring your certificate to the teen desk to claim your prize.
  • There is no set list of books to read for this reading challenge. We just ask that you read books that are appropriate for your reading level. Fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, audiobooks and ebooks all count.
  • Need some reading recommendations? Check out our Young Adult Book Trailers.
  • You have until June 30th of your senior year to complete the program.

You may only enter books that you have finished after your registration date, not books you have already read.
