Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist known for her painting, drawing, sculpture, installation art, and performance art, as well as many other arts. She studied the traditional Japanese art of Nihonga but found she preferred the European and American avant-garde art style instead. Her signature polka dots dominate much of her artwork. She is quoted as saying “Polka dots are a way to infinity”. She has been called “the world’s most successful living artist” and at age 96, she still produces artwork.
