Georgia O’Keefe was an American Modernist painter who lived from 1897 to 1986. She is often referred to as the “Mother of American modernism”. She mostly painted natural forms, particularly flowers and desert-inspired landscapes. She took inspiration from her surroundings in New Mexico where she lived for many years. One of her more famous quotes is, “Colors and shapes make a more definite statement than words.”
